Spilanthes
An immune-stimulant for winter illnesses and an antimicrobial for bacterial and fungal infections. Strongly numbing and supports oral and dental health.
Appropriately named ‘electric daisy’, this curious flower bud produces the most intense tingling, numbing sensation all over your tongue for up to 10 minutes. It feels like bitter poprocks!
Spilanthes has a wide range of effect on the body with an affinity for the lymphatic and immune system, skin, GI tract, uterus, kidneys, and blood circulation. It is most commonly used for oral and dental health ranging from toothache to gingivitis to canker sores to sore throat.
It is immune-stimulant similar to echinacea where it is best used early and consistently during the early onset of an illness. With early, consistent use you can nip an illness in the bud without it evolving completely or support a swift resolution. Through lab research it has been observed to stimulate macrophage function and contain gram pos bacteria such as staph and gram neg bacteria E. Coli and can be used for yeast, ringworm, and parasitic infections as well.
Spilanthes is warming and pungent which usually means a stimulating effect, specifically the stomach and uterus.
Specific Uses:
Oral health: toothache, oral infection, cankers, dryness, sore throat, gingivitis, bleeding gums
Pain: muscle, headache, stomach
Antimicrobial: ringworm, vaginal yeast, gram pos/neg
Immune: cold, flu, tuberculosis, pneumonia
GI: dysentery, constipation, diarrhea, IBS, heartburn
Kidney: stones, gravel, UTIs, urinary retention/swelling
Antiparasitic: malaria, worms, itchy scalp
Made from fresh cultivated flower buds extracted in alcohol and glycerin*.
*organic
Pregnancy: No
Postpartum: Yes
Children: Yes, use drop doses in water and chase with a piece of fruit. Spilanthes makes sweet foods taste sweeter!
For oral or dental issues, add to a small amount of water and swish well before spitting out. For sore throat add to some water and swallow to coat the back of the throat. Be warned that dropping the tincture directly into the back of the throat can cause a wild amount of discomfort, tingling, involuntary swallowing, and a temporary sensation of numbness and or throat restriction!
Avoid completely if allergic to plants in the Asteraceae family.
